This service and repair manual is written for the 2006 Toyota Sequoia with the 4.7L V8 (2UZ-FE), and it is keyed to that year, engine and trim combination, so the specifications it quotes are the ones Toyota published for the 2006 Sequoia rather than values carried over from an adjacent model year.

Known issues on the 2006 Sequoia. Eight recalls sit in the federal record for this vehicle, and the front suspension and the air bag system account for six of them. Two concern the front lower control arm ball joint. In the first, improper finishing of the front suspension lower ball joint can leave some joints with an incidental deterioration of their internal lubrication, with the warning reserved for extreme cases in which the vehicle is continuously operated in that condition. The second is an equipment recall from Tenneco Automotive (DRiV) covering aftermarket ball joints sold under MOOG and NAPA part numbers, where a ball joint failure may cause a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash. Four involve air bags. One names the passenger-side frontal inflator module, where an inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants. Two more, both reported to the agency in May 2015, again concern the passenger's frontal air bag inflator in a crash that deploys the bag. The fourth covers the side curtain-shield air bags, which can deploy unexpectedly and increase the risk of occupant injury. The remaining two come through Southeast Toyota: a tire and rim label that does not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, so a driver may overload the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash, and a front seat heater whose copper strand heating element may short circuit if damaged, increasing the risk of a fire. Owners have logged 293 complaints on this vehicle, and 88 technical service bulletins are on record for it.
Whether the job is a front ball joint inspection on a high-mileage chassis, an air bag circuit diagnosis or a seat heater fault, the manual keeps you on Toyota's own procedure and the correct 2006 Sequoia specification.
