The 2002 Toyota Sequoia is a full-size SUV sold in SR5 and Limited form behind a single powertrain, the 4.7L V8 (the 2UZ-FE). The clearances, torque figures and repair sequences that apply to it are the ones Toyota published for the 2002 model year rather than values carried over from an adjacent Sequoia year.

Known issues on the 2002 Sequoia. Five recalls are on federal record for this vehicle. Two of them name the passenger-side frontal air bag inflator module (19V741000 and 18V883000), and both warn that an inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants. Two more are recorded against the air bags (15V285000 and 15V286000), where the concern is the inflator in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger's frontal air bag. The fifth (05V225000) is a front suspension campaign against the control arm lower ball joint, which may separate from the knuckle, causing loss of steering control. Alongside those, 1,125 owner complaints are on record for this vehicle and 90 technical service bulletins have been issued.
Air bag inflator work on the passenger side and inspection of the front lower ball joint where it meets the knuckle are the two areas that record points at, and both call for the 2002 Sequoia's own torque figures and step order rather than a generic sequence.
