2005 Ford F-550 Super Duty Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2005 Ford F-550 Super Duty covers the 363 cubic inch 6.0L OHV V8 turbo diesel and the 415 cubic inch 6.8L SOHC V10, a naturally aspirated gasoline engine, in a chassis cab built as a four-door crew cab, a two-door conventional cab or a four-door extended cab. Four trims are listed: Base, XL, XLT and Lariat. The procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics run through the diesel and gasoline drivelines, the steering gear and the fuel lines that the recall record for this year singles out.

Known issues on the 2005 F-550 Super Duty. Five recalls are on federal record for the 2005 truck, among them a steering gear whose piston may have the wrong recirculating ball tube retainer, leading to noise, higher steering effort and eventually impaired steering; a fuel jumper line on gasoline engines with an incorrect end form that can separate and leak; and wiring on 6.0L diesels that can cause stalling without warning. Owners have logged 32 complaints with NHTSA, 17 of them on the fuel system and four on the engine and engine cooling. The manual's steering gear procedures, fuel line specifications and diesel wiring diagrams cover those systems.
