This factory service and repair manual for the 2000 Ford F-550 Super Duty is written for the crew cab and conventional two-door chassis cab versions of the truck, each available with either the naturally aspirated 6.8L V10 gasoline engine, a 415 cubic inch SOHC design, or the 445 cubic inch 7.3L OHV V8 turbo diesel. The trim list runs to three, XL, XLT and Lariat. Because the two engines differ so much in their fuel, ignition and induction systems, the procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics keep the V10 and the diesel apart wherever their hardware differs.

Known issues on the 2000 F-550 Super Duty. Six recalls are on federal record for this model year, including the speed control deactivation switch that may overheat, smoke or burn under the hood, a camshaft position sensor on the 7.3L diesel that can cut out intermittently and stall the engine, and a switch in the wiper motor gear case cover that can overheat and take out intermittent or park wiper functions. Owners have logged 76 complaints with NHTSA, and tires dominate with 34, followed by the service brakes with six and the fuel system with six. The manual's wheel and tire specifications, brake procedures and diesel diagnostics cover those areas.
