1986 Chevrolet S10 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1986 Chevrolet S10 arrives with the engine list cut back to two: the 2.8-liter overhead-valve V6 of 173 cubic inches and the 2.5-liter overhead-valve four of 151, both naturally aspirated and both on gasoline. Three cab forms remain — standard cab pickup, extended cab pickup and cab and chassis — under four trims. With only two engines to serve, the fuel, ignition and emissions sections stay short and specific rather than branching across a wide range of displacements.

Known issues on the 1986 S10. Four recalls stand on the federal record for this year. Three of them cover replacement lamps built without the amber side reflectors that keep a truck visible to traffic approaching from the side. The fourth involves tire and wheel information printed incorrectly on the certification label, which leaves the truck out of compliance with the federal tire selection standard. Thirty complaints are recorded, the heaviest on seat belts with six, then engine and cooling with four and tires with three — belt anchorage, cooling system and wheel specifications are all given here.
