Known issues on the 2024 Q5. Four recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the onboard charging cable: at the 100% charge setting on a 220V/240V plug, some home outlets can't handle the required current, and the outlet or cable can overheat, increasing the risk of fire. The second covers the front passenger occupant classification sensor: an electrical connection at the seat can loosen and deactivate the front passenger air bag, so it won't deploy in a crash. The third covers the high-voltage traction battery, which can overheat and increase the risk of fire. The fourth covers the engine's cylinder head cover screws, which may have been improperly tightened and can loosen, letting oil leak and raising the risk of fire. Owners have filed 20 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged.
