Known issues on the 2016 Q5. Five recalls are on federal record for this model year. The auxiliary heater's electrical connector can suffer contact corrosion, and the resulting melted wires can increase the risk of a fire. Two separate recalls cover the electric coolant pump on 2.0L Turbo FSI engines: debris can block it or moisture can short-circuit it, and an overheating or short-circuited pump can increase the risk of a fire. The sunroof drainage system can let water soak into the foam around the side head air bag inflator canister, corroding and weakening it so the inflator can fracture without deployment, propelling fragments into the cabin. The fuel pump flange can crack and leak fuel, which in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire. Owners have filed 77 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From a coolant pump inspection to a sunroof drain check or a fuel system repair, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your specific 2016 Q5.
