Known issues on the 2023 Q5. Five recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the onboard charging cable, which can overheat when a home outlet cannot handle the current drawn by the compact charging system at full charge, raising the risk of fire. The second covers the front passenger occupant classification sensor: a loose electrical connection can deactivate the front passenger air bag, so it will not deploy in a crash. The third and fourth both cover the high-voltage traction battery, which can overheat and increase fire risk. The fifth covers the engine, where cylinder head cover screws may have been improperly tightened, letting oil leak and raising the risk of fire.
