Known issues on the 2013 Q5. Five recalls are on federal record for this model year. Contact corrosion in the auxiliary heater's electrical connector can cause the heater wires to overheat or melt, raising fire risk. The electric coolant pump on 2.0L Turbo FSI engines can become blocked with cooling-system debris and overheat, and a second, related recall covers the same pump either blocking or short-circuiting from moisture, both increasing the risk of fire. The sunroof drainage system can let water soak into the foam around the side head air bag inflator canister, corroding it to the point the inflator can fracture without deployment and propel metal fragments into the cabin. A fuel pump flange can crack and leak fuel, which is a fire risk in the presence of an ignition source. Owners have filed 92 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged.
