Two cover the fuel pump flange, which can crack or leak past its butyl-tape repair and expose fuel to an ignition source, raising fire risk. Two cover the driver's frontal air bag inflator, which can explode or rupture on deployment and send metal fragments into the cabin. One covers the air bag control unit, which can corrode and fail to deploy the air bags in a crash. One covers the A-pillar trim cover clip, which was misassembled and can come loose when the side airbags deploy, striking front occupants. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 Audi Q5, and 2007-2012 Audi Q7 vehicles equipped with gasoline engines. The fuel pump flange on the affected vehicles may crack, allowing fuel to leak.
Consequence
A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Audi will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the flange, replacing any flanges that are cracked. If the flange is not cracked, dealers will clean the pump flange and install a butyl rubber band
