Known issues on the 2011 Q5. Five recalls are on federal record for this model year. Two involve the fuel pump flange, which can crack or was patched with butyl tape that may not hold, letting fuel leak near a potential ignition source. Two more cover the driver's frontal air bag inflator, which can build excessive internal pressure and explode or rupture, sending metal fragments toward occupants. The fifth covers the sunroof drainage system, which can let water soak the foam around the side head air bag inflator canister, corroding it to the point the canister can fracture and propel fragments into the cabin without a deployment event. Owners have filed 143 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
Whether you're chasing a fuel pump flange leak, inspecting the sunroof drain path, or working through an air bag inflator concern, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and correct spec for your specific 2011 Q5.
