Known issues on the 2014 Q5. Five recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers wiring for the auxiliary heater: contact corrosion in the electrical connector can cause the heater wires to overheat or melt, raising the risk of a fire. Two separate recalls cover the electric coolant pump on 2.0L Turbo FSI engines: debris from the cooling system can block the pump or cause it to short-circuit, and an overheated or short-circuited pump increases the risk of a fire. Another covers the sunroof drainage system, which can let water soak into the foam around the side head air bag inflator canister; the resulting corrosion can weaken the canister and cause it to fracture without deployment, propelling fragments into the cabin. The last covers the fuel pump flange, which may crack and leak fuel that can ignite. Owners have filed 106 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged.
