Known issues on the 2018 Silverado 1500. Seven recalls sit on this year's record. Four describe the same roof-rail air bag defect: the inflator's end cap can detach, or the inflator sidewall can rupture, letting compressed gas escape and driving the cap or fragments into the cabin. Two more cover vacuum pumps whose output falls over time, reducing brake assist and stretching the distance needed to stop. Owner complaints stand at 514 — 154 on the power train, 74 on the electrical system, 57 on the service brakes.
