This factory service and repair manual for the 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 divides its coverage among six trims — Hybrid, LS, LT, LTZ, WT and XFE — and three cab bodies, with five overhead-valve engines underneath: the 4.3-liter V6, the 4.8-, 5.3- and 6.2-liter V8s, and a full-hybrid 6.0. Each engine gets its own mechanical, fuel, ignition and emissions specifications, and the hybrid driveline is treated as a subject in its own right rather than as a variation on the others.

Known issues on the 2013 Silverado 1500. The federal record holds two recalls for this year, both concerning the passenger-side frontal air bag. Its inflator can rupture on deployment and throw metal fragments into the passenger compartment, so a device meant to cushion a crash becomes a hazard during one. Complaints total 365: 92 on the air bags, 61 on the structure and 23 on the engine. Restraint system diagnostics, body and frame procedures and engine mechanical specifications in this manual all bear on those reports.
