Known issues on the 2014 Silverado 2500. Two recalls are on record. One concerns a frontal air bag inflator that can rupture when its propellant has broken down, propelling metal fragments toward the driver and passenger. The other covers a fire extinguisher that may become clogged and fail to work in a fire. Owners submitted 164 complaints, the heaviest counts being 36 on the power train, 23 on steering and 19 on the electrical system, which points a reader toward the transmission specifications, the steering gear procedures and the wiring diagnostics.
