Known issues on the 2000 Silverado 2500. Eight recalls are on the federal record here. The one that touches the truck itself concerns tailgate support cables that corrode over time and can fracture under load; if both let go, the tailgate falls onto the rear bumper. The rest cover replacement lamp assemblies — some missing the amber side reflectors that let other drivers see the truck from the side, others throwing light outside the photometric limits and distracting oncoming traffic.
