Known issues on the 1999 Silverado 2500. Two recalls appear on the federal record for this year, and both come from replacement service parts rather than the truck as built. One covers oil filters that can seal poorly and let the engine lose its oil, with fire the consequence if that oil reaches something hot. The other covers fuel filters whose connection may not seal, allowing fuel to escape and ignite. Owners have logged 83 complaints, 46 of them on the service brakes, with 9 on tires and 6 on the fuel system — brake hydraulics and fuel delivery both have their own specifications and diagnostic routines here.
