This factory service and repair manual for the 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 goes back to a single two-door standard cab in Base trim, with the 5.3L and 4.8L overhead-valve gasoline V8s — 325 and 294 cubic inches — as the two engines a technician has to tell apart. Everything downstream of that choice is shared: one frame, one cab, one trim level of equipment, so the chassis, brake and body procedures run without branching and the engine sections carry the two sets of specifications.

Known issues on the 2009 Silverado 2500. Five recalls are on record. Three of them cover frontal air bag inflators whose propellant can break down over time and rupture the housing, throwing metal fragments at the people in the front seats. One covers an auxiliary battery arrangement in which excess current melts a fusible link that may then contact adjacent wiring and burn. The last is a fire extinguisher that can clog and fail to discharge. Owners logged 137 complaints, 39 on air bags, 21 electrical and 16 structure — restraint and body wiring diagnostics both appear here.
