2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 describes the plainest configuration in the series: one cab, the two-door standard; one engine, the 5.3L overhead-valve V8 of 325 cubic inches running naturally aspirated on gasoline; and two trims, Base and 400 SS. That simplicity shows in use — there is no second displacement to cross-check when reading clearances or torque values, and the wiring diagrams describe a single cab shell rather than several.

Known issues on the 2005 Silverado 2500. Eight recalls stand against this year. One concerns fuel rail crossover tube retainer screws made off specification that can break and let fuel leak at the joint, stalling the engine and risking an engine-bay fire. Another covers a shift lever position indicator that may not light, leaving the driver unsure which gear is selected and the truck free to move the wrong way. A third involves a brake booster accumulator that can crack and separate. Complaints total 1,185, led by 336 on the electrical system, 270 on the service brakes and 104 on steering, each with its own diagnostic charts here.
