Known issues on the 2001 F-250. Eight recalls are on federal record for 2001, and half of them concern aftermarket lamps and headlamps that fail the federal lighting standard. The others include front outboard seat belt buckles that may not fully latch in a crash; a wiper motor switch that can overheat and stop the wipers; and the speed control deactivation switch that can overheat and burn. Owners have filed 231 complaints with NHTSA, 48 on tires, 27 on the power train and 24 on steering. Seat belt, wiper, speed control, driveline and steering procedures, specifications and wiring diagrams in the manual cover those systems.
