Known issues on the 2019 Highlander. Three recalls are on federal record for this model year. Two of them land on the same component, the fuel pump: if the fuel pump fails, the engine can stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. One covers certain 2018-2019 Highlanders, among other Toyota and Lexus vehicles; the other covers certain 2017-2019 Highlanders. The third, a Gulf States Toyota campaign, concerns a vehicle label — if the driver cannot read the label, they may unknowingly overload the vehicle. Owners have filed 600 complaints against the 2019 Highlander, and Toyota has issued 118 technical service bulletins for it.
