One covers the gasoline fuel pump: if the fuel pump fails, the engine can stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. A second, from Gulf States Toyota, covers 2017 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid vehicles equipped with accessory roof rail cross bars, where the roof rails may loosen and possibly detach from the vehicle, becoming a road hazard. A third, also from Gulf States Toyota, covers the temporary spare tire: a spare tire that is not inflated to the proper value may not perform as intended. The fourth is an electrical system recall on aftermarket replacement windshields sold by Fujian Wanda Automobile Glass Industry for use in 2014-2018 Highlander vehicles, where ECM damage may result in the engine stalling, increasing the risk of a crash. Owners have filed 358 complaints against the 2017 Highlander, and 136 technical service bulletins have been issued for it.
