2017 Toyota Highlander Service and Repair Manual
The 2017 Toyota Highlander came with three engines: the hybrid 3.5L V6 (2GR-FXS), the gasoline 3.5L V6 (2GR-FKS) and the 2.7L four-cylinder (1AR-FE), and Toyota split the range across eight trims, three of them Hybrid grades. The hybrid and the gasoline cars share a body but not a drivetrain, and the figures Toyota published for the 2017 model year differ accordingly.

Known issues on the 2017 Highlander. Four recalls sit on the federal record for this vehicle. One covers the gasoline fuel pump: if the fuel pump fails, the engine can stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. A second, from Gulf States Toyota, covers 2017 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid vehicles equipped with accessory roof rail cross bars, where the roof rails may loosen and possibly detach from the vehicle, becoming a road hazard. A third, also from Gulf States Toyota, covers the temporary spare tire: a spare tire that is not inflated to the proper value may not perform as intended. The fourth is an electrical system recall on aftermarket replacement windshields sold by Fujian Wanda Automobile Glass Industry for use in 2014-2018 Highlander vehicles, where ECM damage may result in the engine stalling, increasing the risk of a crash. Owners have filed 358 complaints against the 2017 Highlander, and 136 technical service bulletins have been issued for it.
Whether the job is tracing a stall back to the fuel pump, checking the roof rail fasteners and the spare tire pressure, or servicing the hybrid drivetrain, the procedure and the figure you work to are the ones Toyota wrote for the 2017 Highlander.
