Known issues on the 2018 Outback. Three recalls are recorded for the 2018 Outback, two of them software faults. On certain 2018 Outback vehicles the audio display might fail to start up, leaving the rearview camera screen blank while reversing. On certain others the low fuel light could stay dark and the range readout could show miles remaining with an empty tank, so the car could run dry and stall; the instrument cluster software is updated. Certain cars were also recalled over a low-pressure fuel pump that may quit. Owners filed 811 complaints, 265 about the electrical system and 233 about visibility and wipers; 27 complaints reported a crash, 4 a fire and 10 an injury.
