Known issues on the 2006 Outback. On certain 2006 Outback vehicles registered in listed states, salty water could splash past an opening in the fuel tank guard and corrode the brake lines until they leak fluid; dealers apply anti-corrosion wax. The 7 recalls also cover certain 2006 Outback vehicles with a replacement mechanical-key ignition switch whose spring can break and cut the engine, and certain 2006 Outback vehicles, built in a set window or registered in listed states where a same-design inflator was already fitted, whose passenger air bag inflator can rupture.
