2002 Subaru Outback Service and Repair Manual

Known issues on the 2002 Outback. Four recalls name the 2002 Outback. On certain 2002 Outback vehicles the brake master cylinder could misbehave in freezing weather, leaving the brakes applied after the driver's foot came off the pedal; dealers fitted new master cylinders. Certain 2002 Outback vehicles were also recalled because the cruise cable could jump its track and keep the throttle open, and certain 2002 Outback vehicles with automatic transmissions because a badly made parking rod could stop park from engaging. Of 142 owner complaints, 27 concern the hydraulic brakes and 23 the gasoline fuel system; 9 complaints reported a crash and 9 an injury.
