Known issues on the 2016 CTS. Four recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the front heated seats: the flexible heating mats can degrade over time, and a damaged seat heater turned on remotely in cold weather can overheat and increase the risk of fire. Two separate recalls cover the electric power steering assist system, which can fail and require higher steering effort, especially at low speed, raising crash risk. The fourth covers the driver-side frontal air bag inflator, which may rupture during deployment and send metal fragments toward the driver or other occupants. Owners have filed 31 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged for the CTS this model year.
