This 2005 Cadillac CTS factory service and repair manual is built for the exact engine and trim combination it covers, which means every torque value, wiring diagram and diagnostic step traces back to what Cadillac actually published for your car instead of a generic CTS-era approximation.

Known issues on the 2005 CTS. Six recalls are on federal record for this model year. The fuel pump module's electrical terminals can overheat and melt the flange, opening a path for fuel to leak and the engine to stall, with the leaking fuel itself raising the risk of fire. A weighted key ring or road conditions can rotate the key out of the run position, and if that happens the air bags may not deploy in a crash. Repeated flexing of the front passenger seat's sensing mat can break its internal connections, disabling the passenger air bag so it fails to deploy when needed. The front brake hose fitting at the caliper can corrode and the hose-to-tube interface can rupture suddenly, lengthening stopping distance. A rear axle pinion seal that doesn't meet spec can leak and lead to a rear differential failure, with possible loss of motive power and control. And a fuel delivery fault can cut off fuel to the engine without any warning light or chime, stalling the car and preventing a restart. Owners have filed 284 complaints for the year. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From a stalling complaint to a brake hose inspection or a rear axle service, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your specific 2005 CTS.
