Known issues on the 2012 Pilot. Nine recalls are on federal record for this model year, and seven of them concern the passenger frontal air bag inflator module: several cover inflators that may explode after long-term exposure to heat and humidity, sending sharp metal fragments toward the driver and other occupants, while others cover inflators that were installed incorrectly and may keep the air bag from deploying properly in a crash. A separate recall covers the fuel tank vent shut float valve case, which does not meet design specifications and can let fuel leak from the tank, increasing the risk of fire. The remaining recall covers the driver's air bag module, which may be missing one or more of the rivets that attach it to the air bag cover, altering deployment performance and increasing the risk of injury in a crash. Owners have filed 171 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged for the 2012 Pilot.
