2005 Honda Pilot Service and Repair Manual
This 2005 Honda Pilot factory service and repair manual is built around the 3.5L V6 (J35A6) and the LX, EX and EX-L trims exactly as Honda configured them for the year, so the torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostic trees you pull match your Pilot instead of a nearby model year's approximation.

Known issues on the 2005 Pilot. Fifteen recalls are on federal record for this model year, the bulk of them tied to Takata-supplied front air bag inflators on both the driver and passenger side across several separate campaigns, where propellant degradation or manufacturing variability can cause the inflator to rupture or explode and send metal fragments into the cabin. Beyond the air bag campaigns, Honda also recalled the Pilot for a headlight switch whose wiring terminals can melt and disable the low beams, a Vehicle Stability Assist control module that can trigger sudden inadvertent braking, a steering column that can be incorrectly assembled and cause a loss of steering control, a fuel tank that can be damaged and leak in a crash, and an aftermarket bike rack pinch bolt that can cause a laceration or amputation. A separate recall covers aftermarket accelerator pedal assemblies sold as replacement parts for the Pilot that can bind and delay the engine's return to idle. Owners have filed 679 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged for it. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From a Takata inflator inspection to a VSA module check or a steering column verification, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your specific 2005 Pilot.
