Known issues on the 2008 Pilot. Nine recalls are on federal record for this model year, seven of them tied to Takata front air bag inflators: three separate recalls cover the driver-side inflator, which can rupture and send sharp metal fragments toward the driver or other occupants, and four cover the passenger-side inflator for the same rupture risk, with one of those four instead flagging a passenger air bag that may have been installed incorrectly during a prior repair. A separate recall covers the accelerator pedal, which can bind and delay the engine's return to idle after the driver releases it, increasing the risk of a crash. The ninth recall covers hitch-style bike racks sold as aftermarket accessories for the Pilot and other Honda and Acura vehicles, where a pinch bolt between the bike arm bracket and upright assembly could cause severe laceration or amputation to the user's fingertips or hand.
