Known issues on the 2011 Taurus. Four recalls are on the federal record for this model year. The power steering can lose its assist, leaving the driver with much heavier steering at low speed; the interior door handle return spring can unseat and let the door unlatch in a side impact; and an exterior lighting part on cars in listed states can corrode into a short circuit and a possible fire. Owners have submitted 187 complaints to NHTSA, the electrical system first, then the engine and steering.
