2001 Ford Taurus Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2001 Ford Taurus documents the four-door wagon and the four-door sedan in LX, SE, SEL and SES trims, four in all, with a choice of two naturally aspirated 3.0L V6 engines. One is the OHV V6 listed for flex-fuel or gasoline; the other is the DOHC V6 on gasoline. The manual's procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics separate the two engines cleanly, which matters because the shared displacement hides a different valvetrain and, on the OHV engine, flex-fuel capability.

Known issues on the 2001 Taurus. The federal record holds eight recalls. The child seat anchor fasteners can lack enough residual torque to hold a child seat in a crash; the seat belt buckle tongue may not fully eject, or may only partly latch, when the release button is pushed slowly; and a switch in the wiper motor gear case cover can overheat, killing the wipers or igniting the plastic. Owners have brought 1049 complaints to NHTSA, and suspension dwarfs the next groups, vehicle speed control and the service brakes. Torque values for the seat anchorages, wiper motor wiring diagrams and suspension procedures are in the manual.
