2000 Ford Taurus Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2000 Ford Taurus covers two 3.0L V6 engines, both naturally aspirated: an OHV unit listed for flex-fuel or gasoline and a DOHC unit on gasoline. Six trims are documented, LX, SE, SE Comfort, SEL, SES and SVG, across the four-door sedan and the four-door wagon. Since both engines carry the same displacement, every procedure, specification, torque value, wiring diagram and diagnostic step is labeled OHV or DOHC so the right figure goes with the right engine, and the flex-fuel version's fuel system is treated separately.

Known issues on the 2000 Taurus. Eight recalls are on federal record for this year. Several involve lighting and switches: the stop lamp switch or its wiring can fail and leave the brake lights dead or stuck on, grease from the adjustable pedal assembly can foul the stop lamp switch contacts, and the headlamp switch knob can fracture and come away. NHTSA has received 1,232 complaints from owners, and suspension alone outweighs the service brakes and engine and engine cooling combined. Wiring diagrams for the stop lamp and headlamp circuits and suspension specifications are in the manual.
