2004 Ford Taurus Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2004 Ford Taurus covers LX, SE, SEL and SES, four trims, in the four-door wagon and the four-door sedan. Two naturally aspirated 3.0L V6 engines are documented, the OHV V6 for flex-fuel or gasoline and the DOHC V6 for gasoline. The book provides procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics for each engine and for the two bodies, keeping the OHV and DOHC data apart and noting where the wagon's rear structure differs from the sedan's.

Known issues on the 2004 Taurus. Two recalls are on federal record. One concerns power adjustable front seats that may have been inadequately welded and might not hold as intended in a crash; the other covers aftermarket replacement front brake pads sold under several brand names, which can damage or break a brake disc and cut braking power. Owners have registered 375 complaints with NHTSA, and vehicle speed control is by far the largest group, followed by the power train and the electrical system. The manual's speed control diagnostics, power train procedures, seat torque values and brake specifications cover those areas.
