2003 Ford Taurus Service and Repair Manual

This factory service and repair manual for the 2003 Ford Taurus lists five trims, LX, SE, SE Comfort, SEL and SES, on the four-door sedan and the four-door wagon, and two naturally aspirated 3.0L V6 engines. The OHV V6 is offered for flex-fuel or gasoline and the DOHC V6 for gasoline only. Both engines have complete procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics, and the manual separates them by valvetrain at every step so that a DOHC figure is never applied to the OHV engine or the reverse.

Known issues on the 2003 Taurus. Four recalls are on record federally. The engine air filter paper can smolder or burn, damaging the air induction system or starting an underhood fire; the windshield mounting fell short of the federal standard, with wind noise, water leaks, rattles and reduced retention in a crash; and a faulty stop lamp switch or its wiring can leave the brake lights inoperative or stuck on. Owners have logged 1,223 complaints with NHTSA, split almost evenly between suspension and the power train, with visibility third.
