Known issues on the 2005 Silverado 3500. The federal record runs to eight recalls for this year. Two are fuel leaks waiting on a fastener: a pulse damper retainer clip on the 8.1L that can fracture, and fuel rail crossover tube retainer screws made out of specification that can break and let the joint weep as the engine stalls. A shift lever sequence that does not comply with the federal standard can leave the truck moving in a direction the driver did not select, and a brake booster accumulator can crack apart. Electrical faults lead the 1,185 complaints at 336, ahead of 270 on the service brakes.
