2002 Nissan Sentra Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2002 Nissan Sentra is built around this exact model year, so the torque values, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic trees inside match what Nissan published for the 1.8L QG18DE and 2.5L QR25DE engines rather than a generic Sentra-era approximation.

Known issues on the 2002 Sentra. Fourteen recalls are on federal record for this model year. Three cover the passenger frontal air bag inflator: aging Takata propellant can degrade and cause the inflator to explode, sending metal fragments toward occupants, and a related recall addresses replacement inflators installed during theft or collision repair that carry the same risk on both driver and passenger sides. Three more cover aftermarket and factory headlamp equipment: combination corner, bumper, and headlamp assemblies missing required amber side reflectors, plus vehicles built without the tamperproof caps that keep headlamps properly aimed, all of which reduce visibility to other drivers. On the 2.5L engine, the crankshaft position sensor can overheat and briefly interrupt its signal, stalling the engine at low speed without warning, and a separate ECM issue traces to sulfur emitted by the control module's interior foam lining corroding an internal resistor, which can trigger the malfunction light, rough idle, or a stall. A related crank/cam position sensor recall covers an improper solder joint that can cause a no-start condition or stalling. On 2002 Altima and Sentra models, the exhaust pipe hanger pin can catch road debris against the main catalyst, and certain operating conditions can overheat the pre-catalyst and damage its substrate, creating a fire risk. A Nissan-approved accessory floor mat was also found to shift enough to interfere with the accelerator pedal and prevent it from releasing. A final recall covers a front suspension transverse link ball joint bracket that could break from stress concentration at a manufacturing notch. Owners have filed 333 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From tracing an intermittent crank sensor stall to inspecting the exhaust catalyst heat shield, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your specific 2002 Sentra.
