Known issues on the 2001 Jetta. Six recalls appear for the 2001 Jetta. In certain 2001 Jetta vehicles, a short circuit inside the anti-lock brake control unit could start a fire, and dealers replaced the unit. Certain cars were also recalled because the rear child seat anchorages lacked the required markings and owner's manual description; owners received a supplement and guidance fixtures. A brake light switch that might have been installed incorrectly prompted another recall on certain vehicles. The 667 complaints lead with the electrical system at 117, engine and engine cooling at 109 and air bags at 97; 40 reported a crash, 12 a fire, 35 an injury and 1 a death.
