Known issues on the 2000 Jetta. Four recalls are listed for the 2000 Jetta. On certain 2000 Jetta vehicles, heavier current drawn by higher-wattage turn signal bulbs could wear the contacts of the hazard switch relay, making the turn signals and hazard flashers work intermittently or fail outright; dealers fitted a new switch and relay kit. Certain cars were also recalled for a brake light switch that could fail and leave the lights off or on. Owners lodged 439 complaints, with engine and engine cooling at 121 and visibility at 77; 27 reported a crash, 14 a fire, 24 an injury and 2 a death.
