Known issues on the 1996 Altima. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year, both tied to aftermarket replacement parts rather than original equipment. The first covers front strut mounts sold as replacement equipment that were missing a weld joint between the bearing housing and rate plate, which can let the strut come out of its mounting position under extreme driving and damage surrounding components. The second covers replacement corner lamps, turn signals, and headlights that shipped without amber side reflectors, leaving the vehicle poorly illuminated and failing to meet federal lighting standards. Owners have filed 109 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind the suspension and lighting systems these recalls touch are here.
Whether you're inspecting a front strut mount, verifying lighting compliance, or working through a routine service interval, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and correct specification for your specific 1996 Altima.
