Known issues on the 2014 Altima. Eight recalls are on federal record for this model year. Two cover the occupant classification system's electronic control unit, which can be installed incorrectly or misclassify the front passenger seat, risking incorrect air bag deployment; a third covers OCS software making the same misclassification error; a fourth covers an incorrect OCS control unit installed during a prior repair, again risking a deactivated or non-deploying passenger air bag. The 3.5L V6 cars are named in a fuel system recall for an improperly seated o-ring between the fuel sending unit and tank that can leak fuel and increase fire risk in a crash. Three recalls cover the secondary hood latch binding and remaining unlatched, including one addressing latch corrosion, any of which can let the hood fly open while driving. Owners have filed 1,112 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From an OCS or air bag diagnostic to a hood latch inspection or a fuel system check on the V6, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your specific 2014 Altima.
