2020 Nissan Altima Service and Repair Manual
Nissan offered the 2020 Altima with two very different four-cylinders, and this factory service and repair manual is matched to the exact year, engine and trim in front of you — the 2.0L variable compression turbo (KR20DDET) or the 2.5L (PR25DD) — so the clearances and tightening sequences you work to are the ones Nissan published for that combination, not an approximation borrowed from a neighboring model year.

Known issues on the 2020 Altima. Six recalls are on federal record for this model year. Two of them cover Continental tires that were cured for too long during production — one for Altimas broadly, the other for S grade cars on ProContact TX 215/60 R16 H tires — and an over cured tire can break at the sidewall and lose air suddenly or separate its tread and belt, either of which can cause a loss of vehicle control. A third covers the tie rod ball joint fastener, which was not tightened properly and could allow the ball joint to detach from the steering knuckle, causing a loss of steering control. A fourth covers rear window glass that may not remain properly secured to the vehicle, and glass that separates from the vehicle increases the risk of a crash. A fifth covers damage to the rearview camera harness, which can distort or wipe out the display image and leaves the car short of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility." The sixth covers the 2.0L VC-Turbo engine, whose bearings may carry manufacturing defects that lead to engine failure; a bearing failure may breach the engine block and discharge hot oil, adding a fire risk. Owners have logged 178 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are on record for it.
From a tie rod inspection to a rearview camera fault or a suspected bearing failure in the VC-Turbo, every step you follow is the one Nissan wrote for this specific 2020 Altima.
