Known issues on the 2008 Altima. Four recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the left-side front suspension transverse link bolt, which may not have been tightened to specification and could work loose while driving, making the vehicle difficult to control. The second covers the passenger-seat occupant classification system, where an out-of-spec varistor in the control unit could interrupt the signal to the air bag control unit and suppress the passenger air bag. The third covers Garmin nuvi 750 navigation units, whose batteries could overheat and pose a fire risk. The fourth covers vehicles that had the body control module replaced at a dealership, which could inadvertently deactivate the tire pressure monitoring system and leave the driver unaware of under-inflated tires. Owners have filed 1,028 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From a front suspension bolt check to an OCS diagnostic or a TPMS reactivation, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your specific 2008 Altima.
