Known issues on the 2013 Altima. Twelve recalls are on federal record for this model year. Four of them trace back to the front passenger Occupant Classification System: an incorrect control unit, ECU, or software could misclassify an occupied seat as empty or as a child, deactivating or misfiring the passenger air bag in a crash. A separate air bag recall covers Occupant Detection System sensors built out of specification, which could permanently suppress the passenger air bag. Four more recalls cover the secondary hood latch, which could bind and stay unlatched, letting the hood fly open while driving. Rounding out the list, a V6 fuel system recall covers an improperly seated o-ring that could leak fuel near the tank, a spare tire recall covers significantly over- or under-inflated spares, and a steering recall covers transverse link and power steering rack bolts that weren't torqued to specification and could work loose. Owners have filed 2,309 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From an air bag warning light to a hood latch or steering bolt inspection, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your specific 2013 Altima.
