Known issues on the 1995 Jetta. Federal records show 4 recalls for this model year. Certain 1995 Jetta vehicles with the six-cylinder engine could suffer a worn radiator fan motor shaft that seized, leaving the fan dead and the engine prone to overheating and stalling; dealers replaced the fan assembly. On certain others, loosening bolts could let the hood latch release its striker so the hood could open while driving. Owners lodged 220 complaints, topped by the electrical system at 45 and latches, locks and linkages at 37; 21 of them reported a crash, 11 a fire and 17 an injury.
