1990 Ford E-250 Econoline Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1990 Ford E-250 Econoline covers two bodies, the standard cargo van and the extended cargo van, in Custom and XL trims. Known issues on the 1990 E-250 Econoline. Two recalls are on federal record. One covers a dual fuel tank selector valve that may malfunction, overfilling a tank until fuel overflows past the filler cap. The other covers a transmission snap ring that can fracture, so the park gear does not engage and the truck can roll away if the parking brake is not set. Three owner complaints are logged with NHTSA, one each on the fuel system, engine and engine cooling and speed control. Fuel storage, transmission and speed control work all appear in the manual's procedures, torque values and diagnostics.
THE DUAL FUEL TANK SELECTOR VALVE MAY MALFUNCTION AND CAUSE AN OVERFILL CONDITION IN ONE OF THE FUEL TANKS, RESULTING IN AN OVERFLOW OF FUEL PAST THE FILLER CAP.
UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, THE SNAP RING THAT LOCATES THE PARK GEAR ON THE OUTPUT SHAFT OF THE TRANSMISSION MAY FRACTURE.
FUEL SPILLS OUT FROM THE FRONT FUEL TANK. FORD REFUSED TO REPLACE THE DUAL TANK SELECTOR VALVE. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 91V146000. *JB
