Known issues on the 1987 E-250 Econoline. Five recalls stand on the federal record. Severe-duty operation is behind one of them, with underhood temperatures and fuel system pressures able to expel fuel from the filler pipe. Another covers fuel escaping past a vapor valve grommet that can split at the top of the front tank. A third, from an aftermarket supplier, involves replacement fuel pumps that could leak and create a fire hazard. Owners have logged 15 complaints with NHTSA, weighted toward the service brakes, the fuel system and speed control.
