1986 Ford E-250 Econoline Service and Repair Manual

Known issues on the 1986 E-250 Econoline. The 1986 van collected six recalls. Two of them deal with fuel escaping where it should not: a spring lock fuel line coupling that may not be fully engaged, and a vapor valve grommet at the top of the front tank that can split under installed load. A third concerns the steering drag link ball joint, whose rubber can deteriorate until the joint separates. Eight owner complaints are logged with NHTSA, mostly on the electrical and fuel systems. Fuel line service, tank removal and steering linkage inspection are covered by the manual's procedures and torque values.
