The first covers the Passenger Occupant Detection System: stress or wear on the front passenger seat's body-sensing mat can cause the PODS module to malfunction, which may keep the front passenger air bag from deploying correctly in a crash. Two separate recalls cover the electric coolant pump on 2.0L Turbo FSI-equipped cars: debris can block the pump or moisture can short it, and an overheating or short-circuited pump raises the risk of a fire. The fourth covers the fuel line, where a compression point can weaken and leak fuel, which is a fire risk near an ignition source.
