Known issues on the 2011 A6 Quattro. Three federal recalls touch this model year, and all three concern the same system: the passenger frontal air bag inflator module. Degraded propellant in the inflator can cause it to explode or rupture during deployment, sending sharp metal fragments into the driver or other occupants and risking serious injury or death; Volkswagen Group of America issued the recalls in staggered zone-based waves covering these vehicles. Owners have filed 19 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged.
